A conversation between our CEO and tenant

    What does “home” really mean?

For many people, it is more than a roof over their head. Home is about stability, safety, belonging and the freedom to live life on your own terms.

In this conversation, Access 2 Place CEO Trent Lines and tenant Nick Jenkins sit down to talk openly about what home means to them. The discussion begins with Trent interviewing Nick about his experience as an Access 2 Place tenant and CHAG member, before the roles are reversed and Nick interviews Trent.

What follows is not a formal interview, but a genuine exchange grounded in listening, lived experience and mutual respect.

    Listening first

Nick shares how having a stable and secure home has impacted his life, what it has meant to feel supported, and how being part of a community has helped him grow in confidence and independence.

He also speaks about his involvement in CHAG, Access 2 Place’s Community Housing Advisory Group, and why having a voice in decision-making matters.

When Nick turns the questions back to Trent, the conversation shifts to leadership, learning and the importance of listening to tenants to shape the way Access 2 Place works.

    A tenant-led approach in practice

At Access 2 Place, we believe tenants are the experts in their own lives. This conversation reflects our commitment to working alongside people, not making decisions about them.

Rather than a one-way exchange, this interview demonstrates partnership in action: listening, learning and responding to what matters most to the people who call an Access 2 Place house their home.

    Why this matters

Stable, secure housing creates the foundation for independence, growth and opportunity. When people feel heard and supported, they are better able to build the lives they choose.

This conversation offers a glimpse into how Access 2 Place approaches housing, engagement and community, through respect, trust and meaningful tenant involvement.
